DeeDee's Story
Let me tell you something about myself right up front, I am a Montgomery, Alabama girl to my core. I say that proudly, chest lifted, chin up, with the kind of quiet confidence that a good Sunday dinner gives you. Everything I know started in my Momma Nancy's kitchen in Montgomery, where the kitchen was the center of the universe and wisdom was passed like a cast-iron skillet from one set of hands to the next.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama State University, and it was there that I met my college sweetheart, Ken, the man I would go on to marry. Together we built a life in the Atlanta area for fifteen years, raising our two daughters, Kaleah and Camille, and learning what it meant to make a house a home in a city far from where either of us started.
My professional background is in Program Management, the kind of work that keeps you organized, on schedule, and thinking three steps ahead. But my true calling was never in a spreadsheet. It grew out of a lifelong study and love of wine, food, and cooking, the kind of love that gets planted early and only deepens with time.
After fifteen years away, I came back home to Alabaster, Alabama, about an hour from where it all started in Montgomery. I am a wife, a mother of two daughters, and a woman who believes that food and wine are about connection. The best meals I have ever had were not in restaurants or resorts or wine country estates. They were at my own table, with the people I love, with food I cooked with my own hands.
